Want to learn how to play American Mahjong / Mah-jongg / Mah Jongg? Here is our current list of available classes. More classes are coming, including Asian varieties. Looking for something in particular or have questions? Reach out!
Bamboo Shoots:
A Class for Kids and Their Adults!
Kids and their adults!
In this 3-hour class, we will teach the tiles, learn how to play two games, and do a craft.

We request that at least one adult attend with each child, with no more than 3 kids per adult. Ages 6 to 14, please.

Guided Play
Many people want help feeling more comfortable with the flow of the game and with choosing their line on the National Mah Jongg League Card.
What Guided Play Looks Like:

Refresher of game set-up​

Charleston practice and guidance.

Help choosing sections on the card and an eventual line.

We typically play at least 2-3 games.
Please note: The National Mah Jongg League card is needed to play American Mahjong. The cost of the card is $15. They are available as an add-on for lessons, in our boutique, or on the NMJL site. New cards come out in April. The 2026 card will be played from April 2026 to (at least) April 2027.
